I’m not exactly a fervent breakfast enthusiast, but the allure of a wholesome morning meal featuring potatoes or cheese is enough to pique my interest. Admittedly, the portion sizes leaned a bit on the generous side for my preference, though others who relish breakfast might affectionately deem them “hearty.” Standout selections included the Queso Beef Breakfast Bowl and the Loaded Hashbrown Bowl, both of which garnered my approval.

Gluten-free meal plan

I’ll be candid – when I encounter the “gluten-free” label, my mind tends to conjure images of exceedingly dense bread. Fortunately, Clean Eatz Kitchen boasts an array of dishes that steer clear of bread, offering some genuinely splendid gluten-free alternatives. It’s worth noting that there is a degree of overlap among certain meal plans; for instance, numerous keto meals also happen to fall into the gluten-free category. This diversity added to the options at hand.

The Beef with Potatoes was a timeless classic, and the Chicken Adobo held its own as well (although I found myself reaching for the Tabasco sauce at times). It’s worth mentioning that the Basic Steak and Rice meal felt a tad dry, though it seemed to be more of an isolated occurrence.

Low-carb meal plan

The selection was somewhat limited during my time ordering from Clean Eatz Kitchen, but I couldn’t help but wonder if they introduce additional low-carb options as they periodically update their menu. At that time, the sole offerings within the low-carb meal plan were the Chipotle Breakfast Bowl and the Keto Cheesy Beef Taco, both of which I found rather satisfying.

Weight loss meal plan

I didn’t have particularly high expectations for this category, as I assumed it might be dominated by chicken-and-rice-based dishes. However, Clean Eatz Kitchen pleasantly surprised me with a diverse array of options. While there were indeed numerous chicken-centric meals, they offered a wide range of variety. From Cashew Chicken to Jamaican Jerk Chicken, the flavors kept me engaged, and I mustn’t forget the delectable Cilantro Lime Steak. If these dishes were intended to be lower in calories than their counterparts, I certainly couldn’t discern it; they were just as appetizing and satisfying as any of the others.

High-protein meal plan

While I may not fit the gym enthusiast stereotype, my affection for meat runs deep, which is why I was genuinely enthusiastic about exploring this category. While I did encounter some instances of repeated dishes with added meat, such as the Cilantro Lime Steak, I also had the pleasure of delving into some fresh, uncharted options, like the XP Chicken and Waffle Fry Nachos and the XP Chicken Parmesan. Admittedly, the latter left me feeling somewhat underwhelmed, but I do acknowledge that my personal aversion to pasta might have played a role. Nevertheless, aside from that particular experience, I relished indulging in Clean Eatz Kitchen’s high-protein offerings.

Pizza

I’m an unabashed pizza lover, and my affinity for pizza knows no time constraints – day or night, it’s fair game. Naturally, when I discovered that Clean Eatz Kitchen featured pizzas on their menu, my enthusiasm soared. However, my excitement dampened slightly upon realizing they employed cauliflower crusts. Despite my reservations, I decided to give them a chance, and I’m pleased that I did. You see, cheese has an extraordinary way of concealing various shortcomings, and that’s precisely what it accomplished with these pizzas. The crusts, I must admit, weren’t all that bad. While I’m accustomed to more cheese on my pizzas, the concept here is to provide a healthier alternative to traditional pizzas.

The BBQ Chicken Pizza didn’t quite align with my personal tastes, but that’s a matter of preference. The meat was tender, and they certainly didn’t skimp on the toppings. As for the classic options like Cheese and Pepperoni pizza, they hit the spot, cauliflower crust and all.

Your recently published book chronicles the journey of a queer executive, which is a distinctive perspective. According to Fortune magazine, there are now four openly gay CEOs within the Fortune 500 companies. This marks a significant increase from the absence of such representation in 2014, when Tim Cook came out or his sexual orientation was made public, interpreting the situation varies. When you hear this statistic, what thoughts come to mind?

JIM FIELDING:

It’s both unsurprising and frustrating, and I believe it aligns with one of the key messages in my book. If we consider the law of averages, which indicates that around 10% of the population identifies as LGBTQ, this percentage doesn’t seem coherent. Moreover, I believe that if we examine women, people of color, and other marginalized groups, we’d likely find similarly low numbers.

This situation saddens me because I believe it signifies untapped potential. In my community, I am aware of the abundance of brilliant, creative, innovative, and talented individuals who deserve the opportunity to rise to executive leadership positions.

ADI IGNATIUS:

Are you suggesting that there might be more individuals who are LGBTQ but have chosen to remain undisclosed?

JIM FIELDING:

That is a possibility. I cannot speak on behalf of the other 496 CEOs. Factors such as industry and individual circumstances likely contribute to this phenomenon. I am not advocating for forcing individuals to disclose their orientation or publicly reveal their stories. It’s possible that the actual numbers are higher. However, if someone does not feel comfortable identifying or sharing their narrative, we must respect their choice.

ADI IGNATIUS:

In your book, you posit the notion of an almost impenetrable glass ceiling for queer executives within your industry, which, considering that it’s the entertainment sector, I assume is more LGBTQ-friendly compared to various other industries. Could you elaborate on your perceptions of this glass ceiling?

JIM FIELDING:

It’s almost instinctive, an internal sentiment of not truly belonging to a particular circle. This feeling emerges when you attend group meetings, receive feedback from your superiors or supervisors, or even during performance evaluations, if those are part of your current situation.

It revolves around sharing experiences and commonalities. Often, as a queer executive, you might find yourself as the sole openly gay executive in a meeting room of eight or ten individuals. Naturally, this unique identity shapes your narrative. For instance, I don’t have children, but many queer executives do. Consequently, I can’t contribute to discussions about their children’s educational endeavors or university choices. It’s about the absence of a shared language and common topics that would facilitate seamless participation in conversations.

This dynamic could be referred to as the traditional boys’ network or the men’s club. In various instances, including my industry, it still feels like an accurate depiction. Conversations with colleagues from other industries echo similar sentiments. The discourse surrounding diversity within the C-suite, encompassing not just queer representation but diversity in its entirety, remains an ongoing and crucial discourse. This is due to the fact that the executive suites, particularly within American Fortune 100, Fortune 500, and Fortune 1000 companies, do not adequately mirror the broader American populace and its demographic diversity.
